Samarkand Region

Samarkand Region is the heart of the Timurid empire and one of the oldest centers of civilization. Samarkand is a legendary crossroads of cultures on the Great Silk Road, with unique architecture and more than 2,750 years of history. Scholars such as Ulugh Beg and Al-Bukhari worked here. The region is also known for viticulture, silk carpets and a rich cultural heritage.
